Helping Children to Reach their Full Potential
The school meets all the necessary requirements as set by the Government and is committed to academic excellence and enabling each child to meet their full potential. Various forms of regular assessment are used in order to determine pupil knowledge, understanding and practical ability across curricular areas. Staff are committed to enabling pupils to progress as efficiently as possible, at their own pace. This may involve giving added challenge or additional support to individual pupils according to their needs and abilities.
At Providence, we believe every child is unique.
A Close Community
The school benefits from smaller class sizes which enables staff to deliver a more one to one experience for all pupils. Parents and families are important to our school also and as such we seek to allow for opportunities to involve parents in learning where possible. There is a close-knit community of parents at the school which serves as a support network.
We believe in instilling an attitude of diligence and self-discipline in children from an early age, which will benefit them throughout life. Pupils learn these skills through working on weekly memory work, being given roles and responsibility in the class, paired reading and through pupil choice and involvement in the class reward system.
Specialist Teachers
The school has been fortunate in having access to specialist teachers of various subjects including Gaelic, Technology and Physical Education. There are also opportunities for children to develop additional skills in areas such as Music and Expressive Arts through after school clubs and tuition. Providence pupils also receive weekly swimming lessons for a large part of the year, by qualified instructors at the local Lewis Sports Centre.
Biblical Worldview
The Curriculum differs to that of state schools, in that it has the God’s Word and Biblical principles woven into every area. The content is taught from a Biblical world view and all learning seeks to point pupils to God’s Word.
